what is enabling leadership?

Enabling Leadership is about shifting practices and conversations from ‘telling and directing’ to ‘curiosity and engagement’, from ‘command and control’ to ‘enabling the success of your team’. Aimed at leaders who wish to develop their personal leadership style, create an environment of learning, empowerment and innovation, and who want to build capacity in an organisation that promotes an environment for outstanding performance improvement.

A leader’s success is and should be measured by a team’s performance.

what will you learn?

  • How to bring this change to life in your organisation on a practical level. Discover how the planning, design and resourcing of operations can impact the way work is done.

  • How to engage the wider audience in this conversation and the enabling leadership practices.

  • How to successfully navigate the complexities of the modern world of work, harnessing the potential of people through an improved understanding of why people do what they do.

  • How using a coaching-based approach helps individual and team problem-solving skills, leading to improved outcomes and accountability.

  • How to engage stakeholders in self-determined change and encourage the exploration of what is working well within an organisation.

  • How to overcome common challenges to change.

  • How to re-imagine the evolving landscape of risk to achieve greater resilience and innovation.

  • How to motivate, engage and set others up for future success.

In this program, we will explore the powerful shift that can be achieved when leaders engage with their audience to drive effective change, based on three core beliefs:

People are a solution to harness instead of a problem to control.

Leaders have an ethical responsibility to set people up for success rather than manage through and by bureaucratic activities.

Rather than preventing unwanted outcomes, performance is based on building capacity that enables things to go well.

who is this for?

You are familiar with the ‘new view’ thinking and are keen to further create the conditions for successful work in your organisation.  The leaders who will benefit from this program are:

Senior Leaders - interested in introducing change across their organisation/division/business unit.

Operational Leaders / Line Managers - interested in evolving your leadership style to role model the ‘new view’ and create an inspiring example for others to follow.

Safety Leaders - interested in gaining insight into further operationalising the new view, supported by strategies and tactics to bring the new thinking alive in your organisation.

In essence, leaders and senior managers seeking to:

  • Engage their organisations to ‘buy-in’ to a new way of thinking and behaving.

  • Build resilience within their teams and organisation to better manage change.

  • Transition from a ‘command and control’ leadership style to a more effective ‘coaching and enabling’ approach.

  • Confidently re-imagine and re-design work activities to be more successful.

  • Create the ongoing conditions for successful work.
